Chhattisgarh failed in implementing Central schemes: Hariprasada

Raipur, June 16, 2011

The AICC general secretary and general secretary incharge of Chhattisgarh Congress BK Hariprasada has alleged that the BJP-led state government had failed in implementing Centrally-sponsored schemes effectively. “Corruption prevailed in these schemes owing to which the eligible people of the state are not getting cent percent benefit from them,” he said while addressing scribes after holding meetings of different committees at Congress Bhawan on Thursday.
“The centre’s Bharat Nirman Yojna - a business plan for rural infrastructure under which it aims to provide water supply, housing, telecommunication and information technology, roads, electricity and irrigation facility to the villagers seems dying in Chhattisgarh owing to government apathy. The states receive about 85 percent fund under Centrally-sponsored schemes. However, the Chhattisgarh government has completely failed in preventing scams, irregularities and corruption in works being carried out under such schemes. The glaring examples are works under MNREGA,” he said.
“To prepare report of corruption in Centrally-sponsored works, the state unit’s monitoring committee will take a tour of the entire Chhattisgarh,” he said informing that the decision was taken during the meeting of committee on Thursday morning at Congress Bhawan.
On the outcome of his meeting with the members of PCC’s sub-committee which has been given responsibility to prepare charge sheet against the state government, Hariprasada said the draft was ready and soon it would be finalised. The Congress will later submit this charge sheet with documental proof to Governor Shekhar Dutt and President Pratibha Patil.
Asked whether he recommended reinstatement of any expelled party workers during the meeting of the disciplinary committee, he said he simply gave guidelines and left the rest on the members to decide. He admitted that several expelled workers had given application to the committee requesting to reinstate them. “Let us first gauge the level of seriousness in these workers towards the party and then appropriate decision would be taken,” he said.
On finalisation of prospective list of delegates for PCC and AICC as well as district presidents, he informed that the party would complete all the formalities before July 30, 2011. “Yes, we were supposed to finalise the list in next couple of days but considering our June 26 statewide rally and other subsequent programmes, we have decided to take another month to reach to the firm decision,” he said.
