Resolution for metro rail in Raipur passed


House passed four non-governmental resolutions

Raipur, December 23, 2011

The state Assembly on Friday unanimously passed a non-governmental resolution on metro rail in Raipur. The resolution will now be sent to the Centre as a proposal. The House also passed three more non-governmental resolutions tabled on the last day of the Assembly’s winter session on Friday.
The resolution on metro rail was tabled by Congress member Dr Haridas Bhardwaj. He proposed that the metro rail project should be established in the capital city and the trains should run from Raipur railway station to Naya Raipur railway station via Vidhan Sabha. “The metro project will be a new transportation option for the commuters and it would also help reducing road mishaps,” Bhardwaj said.
Another Congress legislator Kuldeep Juneja the traffic pressure in Raipur had increased by manifolds owing to rising population. He felt that metro project would ease the road traffic pressure and people would get benefitted by it.
The Transport Minister Rajesh Munat said the government was committed to start metro rail project in the state. He informed the House that survey for the project had been carried out from Rajnandgaon to Raipur via Bhilai.
The second non-governmental resolution was tabled by Congress MLA Rajkamal Singhania to lay new rail line linking Balodabazar, Palari, Lavan, Kasdol, Bhatgaon, Bilaigarh, Sarsiva, Raigarh and Jharsuguda. The resolution was passed unanimously.
The Congress legislator Dr Haridas Bhardwaj tabled another non-governmental resolution to include Mahra after Mahar, Mehra, Mehar in section 36 of article 341 of Constitution of India. Both ruling and opposition parties passed the resolution unanimously.
The forth non-governmental resolution was tabled by Congress member Ramdev Ram and BJP member Jageshwar Ram Bhagat to include Nageshia/Kisan caste of Kusmi, Samri, Dhourpur and Lundra regions in schedule tribe category. The House passed the resolution unanimously.
