Mahant talks to PCC office-bearers, DCC, BCC heads

Raipur, July 05, 2013

Acting PCC chief Charandas Mahant has asked party general secretaries as well as DCC and BCC heads to expedite poll preparations, strengthen organisation at booth-level and test pulse of ticket aspirants. Mahant’s directives came while he held one-to-one talks with PCC general secretaries, district and block heads at Congress Bhawan on Friday. On the occasion, CLP leader Ravindra Choubey and PCC programme coordinator Bhupesh Baghel were also present.

In wake of party’s debacle in two bypolls the high command has reportedly asked Mahant to prepare list of ticket aspirants from every assembly seat. This exercise becomes more important for Mahant because the result of Keshkal bypoll went in favour of party’s rebel candidate and staunch Jogi supporter.

Since Congress has history of rebellion during assembly and general elections, it is in no haste in announcing candidates on survey-basis and rather wants to wait and see how long the queues of ticket aspirants form for each Vidhan Sabha seat. Logically, longer the queue of aspirants, maximum is the chance of rebellion. Hence, the party will change its decision accordingly.

Through meetings, Mahant is actually engaging party office-bearers, district and block heads to test competence of the ticket aspirants and give ratings.

The party-office bearers who attended one-to-one meeting were Arun Vora, Dr Premsai Singh, Fulodevi Netam, Vedprakash Sharma, Chandrabhan Barmate, Ramesh Warlyani, Padma Manhar, Deepak Dubey, Shiv Kumar Daharia, Abdul Hameed Hayat and Vidhan Mishra.

The district heads who talked to Mahant were Shiv Kumar Chandravanshi (DCC Kawardha), Ganesh Gausewak (DCC Bemetara) and Domendra Bhediya (DCC Balod).

The block heads who attended the meeting were Rajednra Chandravanshi, Ajmat Ullah Khan, Paras Begani, Sanjay Desai, Topen Singh Verma, Dr Anand Singh, Dinesh Baghel, Pyarelal Kesharia, Basanti Lal Bhediya, Sohan Chandrakar, Gajendra Sharma, Rajesh Churendra, Haldhar Sahu and Shiromani Mathur.
Mahant will talk to district and block heads of Dhamtari, Mungeli, Durg urban and Durg rural on Saturday.
