Govt invalidates over 3.59 lakh ration cards




The state government has invalidated 359366 ration cards after finding the applicants either ineligible or fake. Several cards were invalidated because the cardholder and their family members were migrated while in some cases the cardholders were no more.  
The ration cards were cancelled in such a bulk amount during verification and renewal procedures in urban and rural areas in all the districts of the state.
The officials of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department informed that the highest number of ration invalid rations cards was found in Raipur district, i.e. 87553 followed by Bilaspur – 39227 and Durg – 31567.
The number of ration cards invalidated in others districts is – Kabeerdham (Kawardha) – 14002, North Bastar (Kanker) – 11336, Korba – 15364, Koria (Baikunthpur) – 7661, Jashpur – 10335, Janjgir-Champa – 15070, South Bastar (Dantewada) – 5767, Dhamtari – 6053, Narayanpur – 1793, Bastar (Jagdalpur) – 29624, Bijapur – 3031, Mahasamund – 14452, Rajnandgaon – 24387, Raigarh – 9124 and Sarguja – 33020.
