HM son only pawn in land acquisition scam: Jogi

Raipur,July 04, 2011

The father-son duo Home Minister Nankiram Kanwar and Sandeep who are facing scathing remarks by the Opposition regarding land purchase scam in Janjgir-Champa have found a friend in the enemy’s camp in the form of former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi who says that the minister’s kin is merely a pawn in the entire episode while the real culprits could be from high-profile ministers to several officials in the government.
“The masterminds behind the curtain used Sandeep as a tool because he belongs to tribal community,” said Jogi on Monday.
He demanded probe into the entire matter from Vidhan Sabah committee and said, “Since too many bigwigs are likely to be exposed after inquiry, it would be very difficult for any other agency to pursue the case transparently.”
He alleged that the Chief Minister Raman Singh too was deeply involved into the land purchase scam. “If the CM has nothing to do with the scam then why his large size flexes were placed besides bollywood star Salman Khan’s flexes across the state when the Videocon Industries Limited Mumbai had invited the actor for a couple of seconds during Rajyotsava 2010 celebrations,” he asked pointing that the government even disregarded the Governor and made him to wait for the cinestar.
“In addition, when the Janjgir-Champa collector issued orders that the lands of the tribals purchased by Sandeep would be returned, the information of only 1365 acres of lands were disclosed while the names of buyers of remaining 80 acres were deliberately kept hidden. This apparently indicates CM’s interference into the further proceedings of the episode after Congress demanded HM’s resignation,” Jogi added.
