Corruption will be buzzword in LS polls

Raipur, January 02
BJP and Congress in Chhattisgarh have indicated that corruption would be buzzword in the first half of the year and would be major weapon to attack each other’s governments at State and Centre respectively in ensuing Lok Sabha polls.
The intensions of the two parties become evident with their New Year resolutions which seem more or less same. While the ruling BJP said it would adopt zero tolerance policy on corruption in this term, the opposition Congress said it would always keep the government on its toes on graft issues. Both the parities have also set their election goals to strip off each other on graft matters.
On last day of 2013, BJP CM Raman Singh shot a missive to his cabinet ministers and directed them to adhere to zero tolerance policy on corruption and take stringent action against those involved in it.
The CM was compelled to caution his ministers using such tone because despite implementation of public service guarantee act and Satyanishtha Sandhi in previous term to check grafts, the opposition Congress exposed scams in almost all the government departments. The Congress even dragged the names of some ministers and top bureaucrats in corruption cases.
Besides the letter, the CM has reportedly asked the ministers to ensure that State and Central schemes reach to masses so that Congress may not take advantage of any loopholes during polls.
The BJP’s State unit leadership too has issued instructions down the cadre to gear up to assault Congress by targeting its UPA government at Centre by raising issues like price rise, coal-gate, 2G spectrum scam, CWG scam, etc. In addition, the party will once again compare its ten-year tenure with three-year stint of Congress in power in Chhattisgarh.
The Congress, which incurred third consecutive defeat in State assembly polls this time, is rather preparing to raise local issues effectively. The new State Congress president Bhupesh Baghel said that there was no dearth of issues to incommode BJP in polls.
According to information, the party is planning to once again raise Indira Bank scam, government lands given to BALCO at low rate, coal and iron-ore blocks allocated to ineligible players, paddy scam, etc.
The party will also compare UPA government with BJP-led NDA government and tell people how the former took decision in their favour by regularly increasing support price for paddy and making host of laws including food security act, new land acquisition act, right to information act, right to education act and the latest Lokpal.
