Chhattisgarh gave nation roadmap to deal naxals: Jaitley

Raipur, November 08
Assailing Congress government for failing to wipe out Maoists despite being in power for over 60 years, senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley on Friday said it was BJP government in Chhattisgarh that gave nation the roadmap to fight the extremists.
“Congress never framed clear policy to tackle external as well as internal terrorism – be it jehad or naxalism. The BJP, on the other hand, came up with conspicuous policy to counter the ultras,’ he said while talking to the media persons at Raipur.
Holding Congress responsible for debilitating fight against Maoism, he said while some of its leaders frequently entered into political pact with the ultras, the others helped them through indirect statements. “Certainly, the credibility of the Congress comes in question because one party of its leadership compromises with the naxals,” he added.
He said there was widespread frustration among the countrymen over present-day scenario. Targeting PM Manmohan Singh he said the Congress was directionless as well as leaderless. “Its leader is uninspiring and will be sidelined soon,” he added.
Further training guns towards Congress scion Rahul Gandhi he said the new alternative too lacked leadership skills and was least likely to meet public expectations. “Now the people want decisive leader,” he told.
He said scams in Commonwealth Games, coal blocks allocation, 2G spectrum and misuse of CBI were major reasons for prevalence of anti-Congress sentiment in the Country.
“The Centre also dealt financial matters inefficiently. Price rise, on the other hand, will be nemesis for Congress this time. The main voters including poor, middle class and the womenfolk are against Congress,” he said.
Lashing out at Congress president Sonia Gandhi for her remarks that State became poorer under BJP government, Jaitley said the UPA chairperson should had done her homework properly before uttering such words as poverty declined in double figures in Chhattisgarh in last ten years.
Comparing Central and State’s food schemes he said Chhattisgarh’s scheme was much better in terms of extent of coverage and volume of food.
Jaitley said the BJP aimed to win in four out of five poll-bound states. “We have received positive signs from Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi and Rajasthan, while Congress is in backfoot. The results will be trend-setter for Lok Sabha polls if they come in our favour,” he said.
