Chhattisgarh polls: Modi says Raman sensitive, Nitish arrogant

Raipur, November 07
Referring to May 25 naxal attack on Congress convoy in Bastar and October 27 serial blasts in Patna, BJP’s PM candidate Narendra Modi on Thursday said while Chhattisgarh’s CM Raman Singh showed sensitivity by ordering judicial probe in wake of the incident, Bihar CM Nitinsh Kumar displayed arrogance by disdaining to order an inquiry to confirm if negligence led to blasts.
“Raman Singh instantly cancelled his vikas yatra and visited families of deceased after May 25 incident. Contrarily, Nitish Kumar and the people in the government looked unfazed by Patna blasts. Rather, they were engrossed in feasting and holding convention and did not look remorseful,” he said while addressing a massive crowd in Jagdalpur, some 300 km away from Raipur, and seeking vote for BJP candidates in the region.
Indirectly holding Congress-led UPA government responsible for eruption of violence in Andhra Pradesh after its announcement of carving out separate Telangana state, Modi said former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee constituted Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Uttarakhand states by first taking people into confidence.
He said Chhattisgarh would have turned into anarchic state had the Congress been at the helm for last ten years. “It is the political instability that has decelerated progress of Jharkhand and Uttarakhand. On the other hand, Chhattisgarh got sensitive CM like Raman Singh who has endeavored to uplift every section of the society,” he added.
He said his party did not believe in vote-bank politics. “People should vote for development without considering caste or religion,” he added.
Hitting at Manmohan Singh-government at Centre he said the Congress had promised to bring down inflation in 100 days after coming to power but the inflation doubled during that period. “The Centre has completely failed to check price rise. Even onion prices have compelled common people to cry,” he said.
He also targeted the Centre over coal-gate and said people had started coals in their bank lockers. He said Congress scion Rahul Gandhi was simply busy in deceiving people. He ridiculed Gandhi for claiming that his government food security legislation and pointed that BJP government implemented the scheme much earlier in Chhattisgarh.
