Cong sole well-wisher of minorities: Rizvi

Raipur, Oct 04: Hailing union home ministry’s decision to launch special campaign to recruit minorities in paramilitary forces, state Congress vice president Iqbal Ahmed Rizvi on Friday said his party was the sole well-wisher of minority communities.
“The Centre will commence this drive under its 15-point programme and minorities’ welfare and development programme. It plans to recruit about 70000 candidates from minority communities in its seven paramilitary forces,” said Rizvi.
He pointed that the non-Congress state governments never implement 15-point programmes despite Centre’s regular instructions to them to recruit minorities in police forces.
“Chief minister Raman Singh too should take follow the suit and take initiatives in appointing minority candidates in government departments,” he added.
Alleging that the state BPJ government was indifferent towards minorities, he said the saffron party had refrained from giving tickets to Muslims in 2003 and 2008 assembly elections and was less likely to change its stance towards minorities.
