Raipur, September 30, 2013
After successfully organising tribals’ convention at Jagdalpur on September 26, Congress will now attack state government on land acquisition by holding farmers’ conventions at Janjgir and Ambikapur on October 2 and 3 respectively.
The party is feeling elated after Jagdalpur event which was addressed by its national vice president Rahul Gandhi and attended by massive crowd.
For faction-ridden Congress, Gandhi’s arrival was significant for two reasons – one – The party unofficially commenced its poll campaign in his presence from Bastar division where it lost its senior leaders during naxal attack on May 25, 2013 and two – a broader message of ‘united Congress’ was conveyed across the state as the stage was shared by all the senior leaders including Ajit Jogi.
Upbeat by Jagdalpur programme, the party now plans to hit at the government again for forcibly acquiring farmers’ agricultural lands for industrialists in Janjgir-Champa belt and not giving them adequate compensation.
The party will also raise other issues of farmers in Janjgir and Ambikapur and inform people about UPA government’s new land acquisition law.
In the recent past, the party has organised different programmes under its ‘Congress lao Chhattisgarh bachao’ campaign including scheduled caste convention at Ahiwara, teachers’ felicitation programme at Patan, farmers’ convention at Abhanpur and tribals’ convention at Jagdalpur. The farmers’ conventions at Janjgir and Ambikapur too would be held in series of these events under the drive.

Chhattisgarh Congress incharge BK Hariprasada will arrive in state capital at evening on Tuesday. He will participate in party’s farmers’ convention at Janjgir and Ambikapur on October 2 and 3 respectively. On October 4, he will leave for New Delhi at morning.
