Fake ration cards: Cong to gherao CM house on Oct 3

Raipur, September 28, 2013

In protest of issuance of ten lakh additional ration cards, Congress has decided to gherao chief minister’s residence on October 3. A decision in this connection was taken by the party’s Raipur Urban unit meeting that held at Congress Bhawan on Saturday.

“The government was supposed to issue 56 lakh ration cards across the state, but it issued ten lakh additional cards – an evident pointer of massive graft in this process. The additional fake ration cards have been issued to BJP supporters,” said DCC Raipur Urban president Vikas Upadhyay.

“The ration stocks in fair price shops too have exhausted due to issuance of fake cards and arrival of additional beneficiaries. Hence, these shops usually remain closed with no stock. Eventually, the actual cardholders are facing inconvenience,” he said.

He further pointed that the government did not fulfill its promise of carrying out development works against application received under its nagar suraj abhiyan (NSA).

“Even after nine months, the government did not commence any work against the applications it received during NSA.

He said the government was also playing politics in its sewing machine and bicycle distribution scheme. “The government is benefiting only selected people and giving them cheques instead of sewing machines and bicycles,” he said. He informed that the government was supposed to benefit 90000 yellow cardholders under the scheme.

Raising smart card scam he said the government had also issued large number of fake smart cards to the people close to BJPians. “Besides, as against treatment of Rs 500, the treatment bill of Rs 15000 is being presented,” he said.

The meeting was attended by RMC mayor Kiranmayi Nayak, Shreekumar Menon, Ghanshyam Raju Tiwari, Rajesh Thakur, Avtar Singh Saini, Anis Ahmed, Radheshyam Vibhar, etc.
