Raipur, March 15, 2013

Congress MLA Kawasi Lakhma alleges that the BJP government had completely ignored Bastar as the tribal region lacked development.

“The BJP won the previous assembly polls on the basis of tribal votes but it ignored the Bastarians after coming to power,” he said.

“The government says it want to make Tadmetla and Chintalnar as Durg and Bhilai but my request is to just provide uninterrupted power supply in these areas,” he said.

He pointed that the tribal villages face frequent power cuts.

“The government is hero on papers and zero in practically implementing projects and schemes. It should stop taking fake awards in Delhi and must seriously do development works in Bastar,” he added.

He said the state budget should not be prepared considering Raipur as epicentre but the state’s border areas should be kept in mind first.

On aviation he demanded daily air service from Jagdalpur to Raipur. He said although the Congress welcomes constitution of new districts but the government should first provide infrastructure to such districts.

You cannot develop Bastar just by distributing shoes and clothes. You will have to make much more effort at ground-level,” he told the ruling party.

The Congress MLA Premsai Singh Tekam said the PSC had failed to conduct exams successfully. He further said the farmers were not electricity continuously despite state being power surplus. He informed the House that a village called Bhatgawan in his constituency did not have power supply for the past two years, however two consumers of the village got power bills amount Rs 20000.

The debate was participated by Domanlal Korsewada, Dharamjeet Singh, Kheduram Sahu, Devendra Bahadur Singh, Raju Singh Thakur, Amarjeet Bhagat, Laxmi Baghel, TS Singhdeo, Padma Manhar and Shivraj Singh Usare.
