Now tendu leaves collectors to get Rs 1200 per standard sack


House passes demand for budgetary grants of Rs 750.57 cr for forest department

The government has increased payment of tendu leaves collectors (TLCs) by Rs 100 per standard sack. Now, the TLCs will get Rs 1200 per standard sack. This will directly benefit about 14 lakh families dwelling in forests. The information was provided by forest minister Vikram Usendi while he was speaking during debate over demand for budgetary grants of Rs 750.57 crore for his department at state assembly on Tuesday. The House passed demand for grants for his department through voice vote.

He informed that the department would give cash award to talented children of TLCs. The students securing over 75% marks in class X and XII would receive cash award of Rs 15000 and Rs 25000 respectively, he said.
He further informed that the government had hiked honorariums of elected presidents of primary forest produce cooperative committees from Rs 1500 to Rs 4000.

He said the government’s top priority was to protect forests and develop forest dwellers. He informed that the department had recruited 1171 forest guards. He said the department would distribute Rs 300 crore as a bonus to TLCs.

He announced that the insurance premium under Atal group insurance scheme for TLCs would be hiked from Rs 4000 to 6500. “Under this scheme, Rs 10000 will be given on normal death and Rs 31500 on accidental death. The scheme will cover the TLC and his family members,” he said.

He informed that the government would give a pair of shoes to one male member and a saree to one female member of every TLC family.

He further informed that the government had implemented Gram Van and Devvan schemes under state’s Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA) to keep the state green.

The department will do plantation in about 772 hectare land under gram van scheme. Similarly, there is a provision of Rs 2.30 crore to develop Devvans as a cultural symbol of forest dwellers.

He said now the hand pumps would be installed and maintained by public health engineering department.

He informed that the government would do solar fencing in about 300 kilometres of jungles in elephant-affected areas in 2013-14.

He further informed that the jungle safari in Naya Raipur would be developed in next 2-3 years.

The debate was participated by MLAs Dharamjeet Singh, Phoolchand Singh, Kheduram Sahu, Amarjeet Bhagat, Baiduram Kashyap, Sewakram Netam, Kawasi Lakhma, Shivraj Singh Usare, Doojram Boudh, Jageshwar Bhagat, Dr Renu Jogi, Ambika Markam and Sumitra Markole.
