Reacting over commerce and industry minister Rajesh Munat’s claims that state marked rapid industrial growth, senior Congress leader Ajit Jogi on Saturday said rather corruption prevailed in exploration of Chhattisgarh’s rich mineral resources.
He said the BJP government did corruption by allocating coal, iron and bauxite mines to its stalwart industrialists. He alleged that irrigation water and farmers’ lands were being given to industrialists.
He said it was BJP-led NDA government at Centre that sold BALCO to private player. He charged that the ruling party had also failed to operate government sugar factory.
“Similarly, the government is providing land, water, electricity and raw material to cement factories in the state but could not check rising cement prices that have gone up by threefold,” he pointed.
He said considering majority of state population depending on agriculture the government should have established agri-based industries.
Besides iron coal and bauxite resources, the government is also preparing to sell diamond mines to private players, he alleged.
He regretted that despite establishment of several industries the state youth were not getting employment opportunity.
