NSUI gheraoes state horticulture mission

Alleging that state horticulture mission was adopting partiality in recruitment procedures of rural horticulture extension officers and horticulture development officers and ignoring agriculture and horticulture students, the NSUI members gheraoed mission’s Telibandha-based office on Wednesday. The NSUI members also submitted a memorandum on the name of director horticulture mission with their four-point demand.

“The students have already informed about double standards being adopted by agriculture and horticulture departments to chief minister, agriculture minister, chief secretary and agriculture production commissioner, nevertheless the government has not taken appropriate decision,” said state NSUI vice president Subodh Haritwal.

The NSUI’s demands are – select agriculture and horticulture students for vacant posts of rural horticulture extension officers, cancel appointment advertisement for the posts of rural horticulture extension officers for including other disciplines in eligibility criteria and include only agriculture and horticulture disciplines, only agriculture experts should be given priority and give preference to agriculture and horticulture graduates for vacant posts of rural horticulture extension officers and senior horticulture development officers and senior agriculture development officers.

Haritwal said that the NSUI had warned the state horticulture mission of launching aggressive protest movement against the latter if its demands would not be fulfilled.

The NSUI’s Raipur district president Pradeep Sahu informed that the organisational members and students of Indira Gandhi Agriculture University would conduct havan and bhajan to wake up state horticulture mission.

On the occasion, Haritwal was accompanied by Mukesh Raghav, Tarachand Sahu, Tarun Soni, Shashikant Barore, Rahul Tiwari, Sohan Deshmukh, Prem Kumar, Govind Prasad, Nitin Joshi, Ravindra Kashyap, Kaushal Pradhan, Avinash Lodhi, etc.
