Hariprasada likely to seek clarification from truant MLAs

Congress is both shocked and embarrassed over absence of its 14 legislators from state assembly as it failed to secure majority votes in the House for reintroduction of party MLA Mohammad Akbar’s private member’s bill on March 15.

According to information, Chhattisgarh Congress incharge BK Hariprasada is likely to seek explanation from the truant MLAs during his day-long visit to Raipur.

While some MLAs including state Congress president Nandkumar Patel, Ajit Jogi and Dr Shivkumar Daharia had informed Choubey pertaining to their participation in dharna programme at Bilaspur, the deputy CLP leader Rampukar Singh could not get message regarding mandatory presence in the House.

The party is deeply upset with the attitude of its MLAs who did not turn up despite whip being issued, said a party leader on anonymity.

He said with party preparing intensely for polls and planning to unite all its leaders under one roof during parivartan rally, the state leadership wonders why same effort was missing in the House during reintroduction of private member’s bill.

He said the party as a principal opposition would have created history if its bill had been reintroduced in the House. Some of the Congress workers too admit that their MLAs lack coordination in the House and hence the party face embarrassing situation like that happened on March 15.

They said the CLP leader should clearly instruct all the party MLAs to remain present in the House everyday during proceedings in future.

The Congress MLAs who were absent from the House on March 16 were - Deputy CLP Rampukar Singh, Ajit Jogi, Nandkumar Patel, Kuldeep Juneja, Rudra Guru, Shakrajeet Nayak, Badruddin Quraishi, Jaisingh Agrawal, Rajkamal Singhania, Paresh Bagbahra, Ramdayal Uike, Bhajan Singh Nirankari, Shiv Kumar Daharia and Bodhram Kanwar.
