CG Govt’s claims that PM praised it false: Cong

Raipur, March 09, 2013

Lashing at state government for claiming that prime minister Manmohan Singh praised it during his address in Rajya Sabha, Congress on Saturday said its claims were sheer prevarication. “The government is misleading people. The PM did not mention Chhattisgarh in his address,” said state Congress president Nandkumar Patel and CLP leader Ravindra Choubey.

They said the PM simply presented comparative study of economic policies NDA and UPA governments.

“According to PM’s information, year-by-year growth rate achieved by Congress-led UPA government is better than BJP-led NDA government. He told that it happened due to Centre’s effective policies. He also pointed that states with weak economies like Bihar and Madhya Pradesh too produced good results because of Central policies,” they added.

“Strangely, the state BJP government presented twisted version of the PM’s address to claim false appreciation,” they said.

“The BJP’s over nine years of tenure was full of corruption. Just recently, a report on economical survey was tabled in the parliament. This report too exposed pathetic condition of Chhattisgarh,” they said.

“The figures produced by union health ministry during national summit for child survival and development also confirmed that child and maternal health facilities were worst in Chhattisgarh,” they pointed.

“According to union health ministry’s report, average infant mortality rate in Chhattisgarh is 48 while that of India is 44,” they said.

“The child and maternal health facilities in states were rated under best, better, average, poor and worst categories. Unfortunately, Chhattisgarh has been positioned in worst category,” they said.

“The BJP government’s indifference towards child and maternal health facilities has put Chhattisgarh among states like Jammu & Kashmir, Manipur, Tripura and Nagaland,” they said.

Pointing that malnutrition rate in Chhattisgarh too was higher than that of other states the duo said about fifty percent malnourished children die every year due to lack of proper or no treatment.

“Women abuse cases are rising in state. Tribal girls are not secure in ashram hostels. Farmers are committing suicide due to financial crisis. The youngsters are not getting employment. Over 50% of small and medium industries are on verge of closedown. Ironically, the government claims of development in state,” they charged.

They said the BJP government had nothing to do with the ground reality as it was addicted to claim false approval and receive fake awards.
