Avoid making defamatory remarks against mayor: Cong

Raipur, February 04, 2011

The PCC has warned the party leaders and workers to avoid making defamatory remarks against Mayor Kiranmayi Nayak in public. The PCC spokesperson Iqbal Ahmed Rizvi said that the statements given by some of the partymen against Nayak were objectionable and would be termed as indiscipline.
“The party’s opponents are diffusing a rumour that the Congress office-bearers are playing the role of opposition at Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) which is not only embarrassing but also indicates increasing indiscipline in the party,” said Rizvi.
“The partymen should rather support Nayak who has won the significant mayoral seat for Congress from state capital. They should take responsibility to react sharply over the rumours and allegation of the opposition instead engaging in criticising own party member,” he added.
“Besides being mayor, Nayak is also a PCC delegate and the disgraceful comment against her by any of the Congress leader or worker can result his or her expulsion from the party for six years,” he said.
Targeting the DCC president Inderchand Dhariwal, Rizvi said, “The DCC can neither demand clarification from a PCC delegate nor has right to shot notice on him or her according to the constitution of Congress.”
He has written a letter to the party’s state incharge V Narayanasamy and PCC president Dhanendra Sahu to take apt action against the people who have given defamatory statements against Nayak.
