The state government on Wednesday approved Rs 7.98 crore for construction of two anicuts. The officials of Water Resources Department (WRD) informed that Rs 4.37 crore would be spent on construction of Bade Jharkatta anicut project on river Kotri in Koyalibeda (Kanker district) while Rs 3.62 crore would be spent on Kewaiyya anicut project on Tesuanala canal in Patharia development block ( Bilaspur district). A directive in this regard has been issued by the WRD from Mantralaya on Wednesday. The construction of anicuts would be done for day-to-day use of water by the local residents, groundwater conservation and agriculture works. The WRD Minister Hemchand Yadav has asked the officials complete both the projects timely and any delay or additional cost in construction works would not be tolerated.
