The municipal corporation on Saturday imposed Rs 9000 fine over three encroachers who had done makeshift construction over the embankment of the nullah in Shankar Nagar hampering its flow. The civic Commissioner Om Prakash Choudhary informed that the owners of Rekha Fancy Stores, Jai Matadi Fruit Centre and Sahu Sabji Bhandar had extended their shops over the nullah for commercial benefit. They were also throwing all the rotten vegetables and other waste in the nullah and choking it, Choudhary said. The zone 3 officials imposed Rs 3000 each on the three shopkeepers and warned of heavy fine and stern legal action in future if they would reoccupy the same space.
