The state government has allocated 254654 quintals wheat and 44360 quintals sugar for impoverished class of the state under public distribution system (PDS) for February 2011.
The allocated wheat includes 188261 quintals for ration cardholders under Mukhyamantri Khadyann Sahayata Yojana and 66394 quintals for BPL cardholders.
The wheat and sugar would be provided from more than 10500 fair price shops across the state, informed the officials of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department on Thursday.
The highest amount of wheat and sugar has been allocated to Raipur district i.e. 39555 quintals wheat and 6158 quintals sugar.
The wheat and sugar allocated in other districts are (in quintals) - Kabeerdham (Kawardha) – 8942 and 1559, North Bastar (Kanker) – 7781 and 1340, Korba – 12777 and 1979, Koria – 5992 and 1096, Jashpur – 7036 and 1330, Janjgir-Champa - 17391 and 2848, South Bastar (Dantewada) – 1100 and 1209, Durg 31687 and 5178, Dhamtari - 7732 and 1239, Narayanpur 1020 and 262, Bastar (Jagdalpur) – 16224 and 2870, Bilaspur – 29341 and 4980, Bijapur – 2916 and 584, Mahasamund – 12952 and 2129, Rajnandgaon – 14355 and 2329, Raigarh – 13974 and 2571 and Sarguja (Ambikapur) – 24980 and 4699.
