Objecting over chief minister Raman Singh’s recent ‘girlfriend’ remark, senior Congress MLA Ajit Jogi on Monday demanded his apology to womenkind.
“There is no such word like ‘girlfriend’ in Chhattisgarh’s culture. The CM’s statement is against state’s traditions. He has resorted to use inappropriate language due to fast shrinking BJP mandate. He should quickly take back his words and ensure nobody should use such language in future,” Jogi said.
Notably the CM, during his address at a road-safety week programme at Tatibandh-based AIIMS on November 10, had said ‘road accident is inevitable if one has good bike, cell phone and girlfriend’. He also said the preference of scarves over helmets was another reason for increasing road mishaps.
“The road accidents actually occur due to negligent driving. During BJP’s regime, the trend of liquor consumption during driving has increased. For this, the BJP government’s excise policy is responsible Majority of road accidents in state occur because people consume liquor while driving,” Jogi said.
