Gupta did Rs 1500 cr graft, govt protecting him: CSP

Raipur, November 06, 2012

Chhattisgarh Samaj Party (CSP) on Tuesday alleged the government was protecting former engineer-in-chief of public health engineering department (PHED) RN Gupta despite charges of Rs 1500 crore graft against him.

“When CSP raised the matter, the High Court took cognisance and directed the government to take action against Gupta. The government first tried to make the case complicated by ordering departmental inquiry but later suspended Gupta when CSP mounted pressure on it,” said CSP executive president Anil Dubey, president GP Chandrakar and spokesperson Jageshwar Prasad while interacting with media persons.

“A couple of days after suspension, Gupta got retired but the government again hired him as an advisor for water supply at heft package of Rs 40000 per month,” they said.

“It is also surprising that Gupta is claiming to have been exonerated from all charges. How come he get clean chit when Lokayukta claims that it is inquiring into the matter on Governor’s directives,” they asked.

“By protecting Gupta the government is providing favourable atmosphere for corruption,” they said.
