Raipur, October 31, 2012
State Congress president Nandkumar Patel has appealed to the people to dethrone BJP government in 2013 assembly polls. His appeal came during party’s block-level dharna programme against government on Wednesday. The Congress staged dharna in its 199 block headquarters simultaneously.
The chief PCC spokesperson Shailesh Nitin Trivedi claimed that the block-level dharna programme was successful as over two lakh workers participated across the state. After dharna, the Congmen in every block submitted memorandum to local government authorities.
Patel attended dharna programmes in Arang block as well as all the five blocks of Raipur city. He said the government was wasting mega bucks on the name of Rajyotsav and on inviting movie stars but had refused to give proper compensation to the farmers whose lands were acquired for development of Naya Raipur.
The CLP leader Ravindra Choubey attended dharna programme Dhamdha and Saja blocks of his assembly constituency while veteran party leader Vidya Charan Shukla participated the events in Mahasamund, Chhura and Gariyaband.
During dharna, the party condemned the government for raising power tariff and not giving free electricity to the farmers for up to 5 HP irrigation pumps, raised the issues like black marketing of fertilisers, handing over of Bhatgaon-II and Bhatgaon-II extension coal blocks to Sancheti brothers for commercial mining and exploration, pending payment of Rs 270 paddy bonus to the farmers, etc.
Besides, the party asked the government to address all the problems the farmers face during paddy procurement which is commencing from Thursday.
