Govt ignoring local artistes in Rajyotsav: Cong

Raipur, November 05, 2012

Congress on Monday alleged that the government was ignoring local artistes in Rajyotsav.

“This is highly objectionable. The local artistes, who have made Chhattisgarh feel proud by displaying their talent in national and international arena, are not getting opportunity to perform in their own state festival,” said Congress spokesperson Sushil Anand Shukla.

“The government invited tainted BJP president Nitin Gadkari at inauguration of Rajyotsav, spent Rs 1.10 crore on six minute-programme of bollywood star Kareena Kapoor but did not felt it important to felicitate state’s renowned artistes by inviting them to display their skill before home audience,” he said.

“The responsibility to rope in local artistes in state festival has been given to a person who’s only distinction is his friendship with cultural minister’s kin. This person is neither acquainted with Chhattisgarh’s art and culture not is linked with Chhattisgarhi film industry. He is not even in contact with state’s illustrious artistes. He is rather shortlisting local artistes on the parameter of profit he would gain or loss he would have to incur by doing so,” Shukla said.
