Congress on Friday alleged that government organised Kareena Kapoor’s dance item on first day of Rajyotsav was to pull crowd for BJP president Nitin Gadkari who inaugurated the state festival.
“It was really upsetting that the government wasted Rs 1.10 crore on Kapoor six minute-stage presence. The ulterior motive to organise Kapoor’s show was to muster massive crowd during inaugural session of Rajyotsav in which tainted Gadkari, who played key role in obtaining state coal blocks for his acquaintances – the Sancheti brothers, was the chief guest,” said Congress spokesperson Mahendra Chhabda.
“The government also wasted huge amount on bursting crackers during inaugural session,” he added.
He pointed that the 100 acre land, where state festival was being organised, belonged to those farmers who are still struggling to get respectable compensation from the government against acquisition of their lands.
“How come Chief Minister Raman Singh claim of development in state when number of BPL families have increased from 18 lakh in 2003 35 lakh at present,” he asked.
