Cong tehsil-level dharna prog to begin soon


Party aims to complete it in January 2013

The tehsil-level dharna programme of Congress is likely to commence in the coming days. In this connection, PCC president Nandkumar Patel has instructed the Lok Sabha incharge general secretaries to fix dates of dharna programmes in their assigned constituencies. Patel’s instructions came during his interaction with the party office-bearers during a meeting at Congress Bhawan on Monday.

Earlier, the party had planned to commence its anti-government movement against the government at tehsil-level from November 1. The senior leadership had directed to conclude the programme by December 31.

However, with Rajyotsav and Diwali festival falling in the first half of November 2012, the tehsil-gherao event got delayed by over a fortnight. Now, the party aims to conduct dharna in every tehsil of the state by January 31, 2013.

Under its tehsil-gherao programme, the Congress will seek reply from the government on the issues like corruption, increasing crime & naxal violence, inordinate power bills, black marketing of fertilisers,  with Rs 270 paddy bonus, uterus-removal case, etc.

Besides, the principal opposition will ask the ruling party to disclose its expenditure on Rajyotsav 2012. The local issues will also be incorporated in the party’s anti-government movement at tehsil-level.

Notably, the party leadership has already appointed five leaders each in every LS constituency to make the dharna programmes successful The job of these leaders is to exhort the party workers and locals by informing them about wrong policies of the government.

According to information, the senior party leaders including AICC treasurer Motilal Vora, Rajya Sabha member Mohsina Kidwai, Union Minister of State Charandas Mahant, Vidya Charan Shukla, Ajit Jogi, PCC president Nandkumar Patel, CLP leader Ravindra Choubey, etc will participate in a couple of dharna programmes in different tehsils to encourage the party workers.

The tehsil-level demonstrations will be staged in Rajpur, Ambikapur, Lundra, Pal, Samri, Wadrufnagar, Pratappur, Surajpur, Bilaspur, Masturi, Pendra Road, Marwahi, Kota, Lormi, Bilha, Mungeli, Takhatpur, Dabhra, Lormi, Dharamjaigarh, Gharghoda, Raigarh, Kharsiya, Sarangarh, Lailunga, Chuikhadan, Khairagarh, Dongargarh, Rajnandgaon, Dongargaon, Chowki, Mohla, Manpur, Durg, Dhamdha, Patan, Gunderdehi, Balod, Gurur, Daundilohara, Nawagarh, Bemetara, Saja, Berla, Gurur, Simga, Arang, Bhatapara, Balodabazar, Bilaigarh, Kasdol, Raipur, Tilda, Rajim, Gariyaband, Devbhog, Palari, Abhanpur, Jagdalpur, Kondagaon, Keshkal, Narayanpur, Bharatpur, Manendragarh, Baikunthpur, Sonhat, Champa, Janjgir, Pamgarh, Sakti, Malkharauda, Dabhra, Nawagarh, Jaijaipur, Korba, Kartala, Kathghora, Pali, Patthalgaon, Bagicha, Kunkuri, Jashpur, Kawardha, Pandaria, Mahasamund, Saraipali, Basna, Dhamtari, Nagri, Kurud, Kanker, Narharpur, Charama, Antagarh, Bhanupratappur, Pakhanjoor, Dantewada, Bhopalpatnam, Bijapur and Konta.
