Sops for students will prove a poll plank: Cong

Raipur, November 02, 2012

Congress says Chief Minister Raman Singh’s announcement of distribution of laptops and tablets to students on the first day of Rajyotsav will prove a poll plank.

“It is less likely that the CM will fulfil his promise and eventually the students will feel deceived like farmers and tribals,” said PCC president Nandkumar Patel and CLP leader Ravindra Choubey on Friday.

“Earlier, the ruling party had promised to give jersey cow to each tribal family, government job to at least one member of every tribal family and unemployment allowance to unemployed, although met none of its words. Similarly, it deceived farmers by making false promise of giving free electricity for up to 5 HP pump for irrigation and bonus of Rs 270 per quintal of paddy,” they pointed.

They said the CM had forgotten his old promises and was simply making newer ones which are less likely to be fulfilled. “This government has lost pubic trust because it never does what it says,” they said.
