About 376 children of labourers working in unorganised sector have received scholarship Rs 2.60 lakh under Naunihal Chatravritti Yojna (NCY) till date. The government launched this scheme in 2010 to encourage the talented children of the labourers to pursue their studies.
The Labour Minister Chandrashekhar Sahu on Tuesday informed that the government provides scholarship to the children from class I up to post graduation. The scholarship is being given to all the children studying from class I to IV and from class V onwards, only those are considered eligible for NCY who secure more than 60 percent marks in their final examinations.
The government also provides scholarship to those children of labourers who clear entrance examinations organised by the Chhattisgarh Professional Examination Board and opt engineering, medical or any other professional course for further studies. The students start receiving scholarship only after completing one year of their professional course. But the students who stop their studies in mid-session are asked to submit back their scholarship amount.
If any student is eligible to obtain scholarship of any other government department or organisation and if he finds it more beneficial then he is allowed to choose any one scholarship as he cannot take benefit of two schemes simultaneously.
The boys studying from class I to V receive Rs 500, from class VI to VIII - Rs 750, from class IX to XII – Rs 1000, during graduation course – Rs 1500 and during post graduation course – Rs 2500 as annual scholarship under NCY.
Similarly, the girls from class I to V get Rs 750, from class VI to VIII – Rs 1000, from class IX to XII – Rs 1500, during graduation course – Rs 2500 and during post graduation course – Rs 3000.
Besides, the boys pursing professional course at graduation level receive Rs 3000 and girls get Rs 4000. At post graduation level, the boys get Rs 4000 and girls get Rs 5000.
