Raipur, April 21, 2011

The PCC has alleged that the BJP government was violating code of conduct in Bastar by publishing advertisement of its achievements in the region. In this connection, Congress leaders submitted a memorandum to the state’s Chief Election Officer (CEO) Sunil Kujur and demanded to take action against the BJP government.
The Congress leaders said that the BJP was attempting to woo the voters in Bastar by publishing such advertisements. “When the Bastar by-election is slated to be held on May 8, 2011 and the code of conduct has been implemented according to the directives of Election Commission of India then how come the government published promotional advertisements in the area to tempt the voters?” they asked.
“To maintain transparency in Bastar by-poll, all the promotional activities of the government should immediately be stopped,” they said.
The Congmen who submitted memorandum to Kujur were - PCC spokesperson Ramesh Varlyani, DCC president Inderchand Dhariwal, state Congress spokespersons Jaswant Cladius and Daulat Rohra, president of PCC business cell Kanhaiyya Agrawal, Madan Taleda, Dr Niranjan Haritwal and Dinesh Tiwari.
