Patel, Choubey leaves for Bastar

Raipur, April 22, 2011

The PCC president Nandkumar Patel and Leader of Congress Legislators Party (CLP) Ravindra Choubey left for Bastar on Friday to join former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi and other partymen in the hustings. The duo returned state capital from New Delhi on Thursday evening after attending the meeting of PCC presidents and CLP leaders convened by the party supremo Sonia Gandhi.
The state Congress incharge general secretary BK Hariprasada will reach Raipur on April 24 evening and move ahead towards Bastar on the following day. According to his instructions, both Patel and Choubey left for Bastar two days before his arrival to hold meetings of the senior leaders to chalk out poll campaigning strategy for Lok Sabha level coordination committee and eight Vidhan Sabha level coordination committees.
Jogi and his son Amit have already started initial phase of campaigning in Bastar. With arrival of Patel and Choubey in Bastar, the local Congmen hope that they would succeed in coaxing veteran leader Mahendra Karma who had alienated himself from the party activities after the AICC head decided pick Kawasi Lakhma as candidate for by-election instead of considering his candidature.
It is learnt that the AICC treasurer Motilal Vora and PCC incharge secretary V Hanumantha Rao will arrive Bastar for poll campaigning in April end.
