Patel hints to induct new faces in his team



Raipur, April 28, 2011 

The PCC president Nandkumar Patel has hinted to induct new faces in his team. The PCC’s new working committee is likely to be announced after Bastar Lok Sabha by-election in presence of new incharge general secretary of state Congress BK Hariprasada.
The state unit’s working committee which comprises of 140 office-bearers has not been changed since 2004 when Motilal Vora was the PCC president. His successors – Dr Charandas Mahant and Dhanendra Sahu too kept the working committee unchanged.
However, Hariprasada during his recent Raipur visit reportedly asked Patel to form a truncated working committee that should not have office-bearers more than 41.

The prominent frontrunners for the posts of general secretary in the PCC are – Dr Renu Jogi, Dr Shiv Kumar Daharia, Bhupesh Baghel, Ramesh Varlyani, Vidhan Mishra, Rajendra Tiwari, Abdul Hameed Hayat, Haji Sheikh Najimuddin, Rajesh Tiwari from Kanker, Baijnath Chandrakar from Bilaspur, Arun Vora from Durg and Uday Mudliyar from Rajnandgaon.
Patel is likely to give responsibility of Pradesh Mahila Congress, PCC Sewa Dal, Youth Congress and National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) to the general secretaries.
The other Congress workers aspiring for the posts of general secretary can get the posts of spokesperson. The prominent candidates for spokespersons are – Jaswant Cladius, Mahendra Chhabra, Shailsh Nitin Trivedi and Usha Rajjan Shrivastava.
