Govt helpless before transport associations: Cong

Raipur, April 20, 2011

The state Congress business cell has said that the government looked helpless before the transport associations. Demanding to break the deadlock between Bastar Transport Association and Bastar Koraput Transport Association, the cell’s president Kanhaiyya Agrawal has warned of launching aggressive protest movement if the government would fail in bringing back normalcy in transport services from Raipur to Bastar in 48 hours.“The dissention between the two associations has strongly affected the normal life in Bastar. With no transportation of essential commodities from Raipur to Bastar for the past one week, the price of life saving drugs, food grains, vegetables and other necessary items have suddenly increased and the black marketeers are taking benefit of this situation,” Agrawal said.
He said the government should quickly intervene and organise joint meeting of agitating truck operators, businessmen and the district administrations of Raipur and Bastar to bring some effective solution.
Raising doubt over the role of the government and the district administrations, he said it was surprising that no initiative had been taken by the responsible authorities to normalise the transportation from Raipur to Bastar.
“If the government has failed to deal this small issue then how would it solve the problem of over two crore people of the state?” asked Agrawal.
