The senior Congress leaders including AICC treasurer Motilal Vora, PCC incharge general secretary BK Hariprasada and PCC incharge secretary V Hanumantha Rao will campaign for the party candidate Kawasi Lakhma during Bastar by-election. These leaders gave their approval for campaign to the PCC president Nandkumar Patel and Leader of Congress Legislators Party (CLP) Ravindra Choubey at New Delhi on Wednesday. All the senior leaders will reach Bastar on April 24, 2011.
Notably, both Patel and Choubey reached the national capital on Wednesday on invitation of the party supremo Sonia Gandhi to attend the meeting of PCC chiefs and CLP leaders.
At New Delhi, the duo met Gandhi’s political advisor Ahmed Patel, BK Hariprasada, Motilal Vora, V Hanumantha Rao and AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh.
The duo discussed with the senior leader about formation of poll coordination committees for Bastar by-poll and sought guidance from them pertaining to campaigning strategy.
According to information, the PCC will form one Lok Sabha level coordination committee at Bastar and eight Vidhan Sabha coordination committees. These committees would be formed in next couple of days. Sources informed that the national leadership had asked Patel and Choubey to ensure the representation of all the factions in the coordination committees.
The party will give Vidhan Sabha-wise responsibilities to the legislators. The high command is also likely to send poll observer from New Delhi.
Both Patel and Choubey will reach state capital on Thursday evening. They are likely to leave for Bastar April 22.
New working committee likely after Bastar by-poll

The new working committee of the state Congress is likely to be announced after Bastar by-election. The PCC president Nandkumar Patel wants to induct his supporters in the working committee but simultaneously does not want to upset any of the factions. He had already held first round of meeting with the senior party leaders in the state regarding working committee announcement before his New Delhi departure on Wednesday. He will once again discuss with the senior leaders after Bastar by-poll and then announce the working committee members and district presidents.
