The Congress says that the BJP rally against price rise and corruption on Saturday was a sponsored flop show in which about Rs ten crore was spent. “The sizable chunk of the fund for this rally came from government’s exchequer. In addition, the BJP government also compelled the businessmen, especially industrialists to give hefty donations for the rally,” alleged PCC spokesperson Ramesh Varlyani.
He said the BJP misused it machinery to organise the rally and forcibly acquired about 700 buses from all the districts besides hundreds of mini buses and jeeps.
“With no availability of public conveyance, the daily passengers had to face inconvenience in all the districts. But since the BJP never bothers about the people’s problems, it remained apathetic towards them even while organising the rally,” he said.
“It is an irony that corruption prevails from top to bottom in the BJP government but instead of taking action against the guilty ones and the party is misleading people. In this backdrop, the BJP national president Nitin Gadkari has no moral right to take rally against corruption and price rise,” Varlyani charged.
He said the government had broken all the records of scams related to power, minerals and paddy procurement. “Besides, by selling the river and dam water to the industrialists and ignoring the farmers, the government has clarified its intentions that it simply wants to exploit the people,” he said.
He further alleged that the government was misusing the fund meant for Centrally-sponsored schemes. “The irregularities in implementation of Centre’s Sarva Shiksha Abhjiyan were surfaced in Jagdalpur. The level of corruption could easily be gauged in the state by the fake bills against no work,” he said.
He also slammed the government for failing to curb rising inflation in the state. “The government is giving asylum to the black marketeers and has not taken any action like raids on them,” he said.
