The Congress has complained against the state office of National highway Authority of India (NHAI) to the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways CP Joshi. The party MLA Rajkamal Singhania has informed Joshi that that corruption prevailed in the NHAI state office. Taking serious note over the complaint, Joshi has reportedly asked the official of the ministry to take stern action against the guilty officials after conducting departmental inquiry.
Singhania informed that the NHAI had constructed several roads in the state including main roads and service roads.
“To raise a residential or commercial building besides the main roads, one has to obtain no objection certificate (NOC) from the NHAI state office. But there is no such condition for the projects or construction works besides the service roads. However, several projects besides service roads have been stopped by the NHAI officials. They say that the NOC for such projects would be granted by their New Delhi-based headquarters,” Singhania said.
He charged that the NHAI officials were not following norms and misusing their rights. He further alleged that the NHAI officials were also taking hefty bribe money from the people to provide them NOC for their projects besides service roads.
