Cong’s two spokespersons quarrel during PCC prez meeting

The PCC president Nandkumar Patel had bitter experience on the first day at office when the two Congress spokespersons suddenly started quarreling over petty issue during his meeting at Congress Bhawan on Tuesday. Surprised by the indiscipline by the partymen, Patel cautioned them not to create such scenes in future and instructed to maintain decorum of their posts.
Patel had called some of the office-bearers of the Organisation at Congress Bhawan on Tuesday morning to discuss about the upcoming by-poll in Bastar Lok Sabha area.
However, when only few of the office-bearers turned up, he simply discussed about the job allocation for party’s legislators during the by-election.
Later, he inspected the arrangements at the party office and then convened a meeting of the spokespersons at media centre.
The spokespersons introduced themselves to Patel one-by-one. When it was Iqbal Ahmed Rizvi’s turn, he introduced himself as state spokesperson. He then pointed towards Hasan Khan and introduced him as divisional spokesperson. Rizvi said Hasan Khan and Amber Shukla were divisional spokespersons but they write their posts as state spokesperson.
Rizvi’s remarks infuriated Hasan and the duo had heated exchange for couple of minutes before the other office-bearers tried to pacify their angst. However, when Rizvi and Hasan continued quarreling, Patel interfered and asked them to keep quiet. He said senior partymen should learn to control their emotions.
During his discussion with the spokespersons, Patel said he would fix everyone’s responsibility after returning from New Delhi.
He, however, categorically said that all the spokespersons would have to coordinate with each other.  
The meeting of was attended by PCC general secretary incharge Subhash Sharma, Ramesh Varlyani, Mahendra Chhabra, Rajendra Tiwari, Amir Ali Farishta, Iqbal Ahmed Rizvi, Pramod Choubey, Kalpana Patel, Ravindra Shukla, Amber Shukla, Hasan Khan, Jaswant Claudius, Gurmeet Singh Gurudutta and Daulat Rohra.



Patel, Choubey to leave for Delhi on Sonia’s invitation today

The PCC president Nandkumar Patel and Leader of Congress Legislators Party (CLP) Ravindra Choubey will leave for New Delhi on Wednesday on AICC chief Sonia Gandhi’s invitation. Gandhi has invited all the PCC presidents and CLP leaders to take stock of the party’s activities and to chalk out future programmes.
At New Delhi, besides meeting AICC head, Patel will also meet AICC treasurer Motilal Vora and general secretaries Rahul Gandhi, Digvijay Singh and BK Hariprasada who is also incharge of Chhattisgarh Congress. Patel will return to state capital on April 21, 2011.  



Patel visit Sahu, Jogi, Mahant & VC

A day after assuming office, the PCC president Nandkumar Patel on Tuesday visited the party’s bigwig leaders including former chief minister Ajit Jogi, Korba MP Charandas Mahant, former PCC head Dhanendra Sahu and former Union Minister Vidya Charan Shukla. Patel’s visits to these leaders are seen as his effort to maintain rapport with all the factions in the party so that he could steer the unit without any hindrance.
Patel first visited Sahu on Tuesday morning and sought his advice over framing guidelines for the party. He then visited Jogi in the afternoon and had a long discussion over the party and the other issues. Later, he visited Mahant in the evening and sought his support to unite the party. At night, he took dinner with Shukla.
