Raipurians irked by frequent power cuts

Raipur, May 11, 2011

The Raipurians are irked by the frequent power cuts done by the Chhattisgarh Power Distribution Company Limited (CSPDCL) in this scorching summer season. Power cut is being done in different parts of the city for several hours in the morning and afternoon without any prior information.
According to information, the load shedding is being done to reduce the gap of demand and supply of electricity in the state. Presently, the state require 2900 MW electricity, however, the CSPDCL is unable to meet this demand because one or the other power plant in Korba malfunctions in every three-four days thus the power company gets 150-200 MW power less.
The residents of Changora Bhatha, Rohinipuram, Deendayal Upadhyay Nagar, Sarona, Tatibandh, Veer Savarkar Nagar, Kota, Mahoba Bazar, Gudhiyari, Ashok Nagar, Purani Basti, Brahman Para, Lakhe Nagar, Professor Colony and Kushalpur complain that the power cut is being done in their areas usually two-three times in a day.
