FLIP SIDE - Why Congress is sulking?

Yogesh Mishra

The state Congress is utterly flummoxed by the attitude of the party’s Union ministers because every time their Chhattisgarh visit summerises with appreciation of Chief Minister Raman Singh’s government. The Congress leaders are continuously demanding from the party’s national leadership to thwart the rising trend of glorifying opposition parties that are ruling in states. They said they would not be left with any issue in Chhattisgarh if the Union ministers would continue giving full marks to the BJP government in every department. Recently, Congress MLA Amitesh Shukla complained against Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia to the party supremo Sonia Gandhi. Shukla asked how come Ahluwalia applauded the Chhattisgarh governments for effectively implementing the PDS and did not instruct it to expedite payments under NREGS works. The other senior party leaders, too, have made similar complaints to the high command. Unimpressed by such complaints, Sonia has reportedly directed Amitesh and other senior party leaders to concentrate in consolidating the party in the state instead of sulking on petty issues.
