Senior Congress legislator Ajit Jogi on Friday said that the recent arrest of three naxals in Raipur proved that the city was unsafe under BJP’s regime. He alleged that the Maoists were moving freely in the state because the government had lost control over the administration. He also demanded CBI probe into arrest of three naxals from the capital city.
“It is surprising that the BJP government could not check naxalism in past eight years despite getting massive support from the Centre in terms of forces and funds,” he said.
“The extremists fearlessly enter the houses of legislators and kill public representatives. They are also killing security personnel and blasting the police stations. The major victims of naxal terror are innocent tribals who are being killed in large number,” he said.
He said according to reports the terrorist outfits like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) too were eying rich mineral resources of Chhattisgarh.
“These outfits have even joined hands with the Maoists and there is strong proof about their links but unfortunately the state government seemed unmoved of such factual reports,” he said.
He charged that the naxals ramified in state because the government did not make proper use of the developmental funds allocated for the Maoists-infested regions. “The funds for development, peace and rehabilitation of the naxal-affected people never reach to the deserving candidate because the government is non-existent in Maoist-hit areas,” he said.
“The naxal presence could easily be seen in the naxal highways. The government is not even able to secure railway properties from the extremists. CRPF camps are being targeted by the naxals consistently. Still, the government is silent,” he said.
