Congress on Monday hailed hike in minimum support price (MSP) of paddy by Rs 250 per quintal by Centre. The PCC president Nandkumar Patel extended his gratitude towards the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi for increasing paddy MSP. “The MSP for common paddy has been increased from Rs 1050 per quintal to Rs 1330 per quintal. Similarly, the MSP for fine paddy has increased from Rs 1110 per quintal to Rs 1360 per quintal. This is the step which only the Congress can take while the ruling BJP in state has still not fulfilled its promise to the farmers to distribute them Rs 270 paddy bonus,” he said.
