Congress spokesperson Rajesh Bissa has alleged that state government’s Rs 618 crore-Atal Jyoti Vidyutikaran Yojna (AJVY) has completely failed and the farmers did not get any benefit from it. “The government had claimed that it would link every irrigation pump of the farmers with separate power line by 2009 but it did not happen,” said Bissa on Thursday. Notably, The AJVY was launched by the government to provide uninterrupted power supply to the irrigation pumps of farmers.
He informed that the Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board had started laying power line in 2007 and was targeted to achieve the task by 2009 but could not do any progress even in five years. “The government had initially sanctioned Rs 200 crore but the fund went in the corrupt hands,” he charged.
He said only four districts of the state witnessed slight progress in AJVY while the project never progressed in rest of the districts.
“In Raipur works in 59 out of 108 feeders have been done, in Durg works in 143 out of 148 feeders have been done, in Dhamtari works in 43 out of 46 feeders have been done while in Mahasamund works in four feeders have started but not yet been complete,” he said.
He said it was unfortunate that despite keeping Energy department with him the Chief Minister could not succeed in implementing AJVY in his constituency Rajnandgaon, home district Kawardha and tribal areas.
He demanded disciplinary action against the officials who failed to carry the give tasks under AJVY successfully and blacklisting of contractors who had got works.
He said the CM should tender apology to the farmers and announce the expected time period of completion of works under AJVY.
