Konta legislator from Congress Kawasi Lakhma has demanded from Union Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma to open a branch headquarters of National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) in Bastar. In this connection, he handed over a letter to Verma during his Monday visit to Congress Bhawan. He said while the NMDC is located in Kirandool (Bastar), its headquarters is based at Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh) and hence the locals do not get adequate job opportunities in the corporation. He pointed that the NMDC does 90 percent of its business in Chhattisgarh but the locals are not getting benefit from it.
