CM invited in Goncha festival


Raipur, June 14, 2012

A delegation of Goncha Mahaparv organising committee paid courtesy visit to Chief Minister Raman Singh at his residence at evening on June 13 and invited him to participate in this 600-year-old festival at Jagdalpur. The delegation informed that the festival is a symbol of social equality and harmony in Bastar. This duration of this festival is second longest after Bastar Dussera, the delegation said. The festival has begun with chandan yatra from June 4 and netrotsava puja would be conducted on June 20 while Goncha rathyatra would be celebrated on June 21. On the occasion, the delegation also gifted traditional tupki to the CM. The delegation was led by Tribal Development Minister Kedar Kashyap and was comprised of Shriram Joshi, Rajnesh Panigrahi, Arjun Pandey, Suradarshan Panigrahi, Narendra Panigrahi, Jaiprakash Padhi, Chandak Panigrahi, etc.
