Cong: Police uncontrolled, constitutional crisis in state

Raipur, June 20, 2012

Congress on Thursday said that state was facing constitutional crisis as the government had lost control over the police department. “Five ministers including Home Minister Nankiram Kanwar have questioned the operational methods of the police during June 19 Cabinet meeting. All the four overtly alleged that the police department has become uncontrollable,” said Congress spokesperson Sushil Anand Shukla.
“The police department comes under Home Ministry but ironically Kanwar himself had to utter the bitter truth that he was completely unaware of the people issuing directives to the police officials,” said Shukla.
“School Education Minister Brijmohan Agrawal, WRD Minister Ramvichar Netam, Forest Minister Vikram Usendi and Housing & Environment Minister Rajesh Munat too discussed over erratic behaviour of the police officials. Kanwar’s helplessness is reflection of fragile law and order in the state which is already reeling under naxal menace,” he added.
“The BJP government has completely failed in discharging its constitutional duties. Crime rate has increased under its regime. Dacoity, murder, abduction and rape cases have become order of the day. All the ministers are croaking before the Chief Minister, but there no one to take responsibility of anarchy prevailed in the state. If the HM is powerless then who will take guarantee of public security,” Shukla asked.
