Baghel demands CBI probe into Pushp Steel case

Raipur, May 02, 2013

State Congress general secretary Bhupesh Baghel has demanded CBI probe into coal and iron-ore blocks allocation to Push Steel. In this connection, he has written a detailed letter to CBI director.

Through the letter, Baghel charged that the government had given mining and prospecting licence to undeserving company Pushp Steel and chief minister Raman Singh, the then mining secretary Shivraj Singh and government officials were reaping massive monetary benefits.

He alleged that despite being a company with paid-up capital Rs 225000, Push Steel managed to obtain mining lease of iron-ore in 215 hectare and surveillance in 705.33 hectare.

He said the cost of company’s total assets was account Rs 5000 crore and currently it was available for sale in the market.

He pointed that the government issued letter of approval to Push Steel without obtaining approval from sub-committees of Cabinet and secretaries. He said according to Supreme Court directives approval of both sub-committees is must in cases like that of Push Steel.

He said the CM and relevant government officials had committed crime under section 420, 120(B), 467, 468 and 471 of IPC by trying to take financial benefit from the misappropriated funds worth several crores.

Indicating of massive corruption in mining department, he asked the central agency to also inquire into all coal and iron-ore blocks recommended by Chhattisgarh government.
