The NSUI has decided to show mirror to chief minister Raman Singh
during government’s vikas yatra in protest of host of issues. The decision was
taken during the state executive meeting convened by NSUI’s national general
secretary Amrita Dhawan and organisation’s state vice president Subodh Haritwal
at Congress Bhawan on Friday.
“Under
our future action plan we have decided to oppose vikas yatra as the government
is doing injustice to students,” said Haritwal after the meeting.
In
its protest against vikas yatra, the NSUI will prominently raise issues like
government’s laptop distribution scheme, mismanaged academic calendar and
scholarship programmes.
“We
want the government to distribute laptops to students from first year so that
they could make maximum use of it but the former has selected final year
students for its scheme,” Haritwal said.
“The
government is also responsible for delayed academic calendar that has
eventually affected studies and exams in colleges,” he added.
“Besides,
the scholarship programmes meant for scheduled caste (SC) and scheduled tribe
(ST) students are not of no use as the eligible candidates have not received
scholarships for the past couple of years,” he pointed.
During
the meeting, the NSUI further decided to felicitate state’s meritorious
students of class X and XII from both Chhattisgarh State Board of Secondary
Education (CGBSE) and Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The
felicitation programme will be organised in first week of June 2013 at Raipur.
In
the meeting, Dhawan and Haritwal also reviewed works of NSUI’s district units
and issued significant directives to the respective heads.
