A day after Senior Congress legislator Ajit Jogi wrote a letter to PCC
president Nandkumar Patel regarding fielding of candidate in Jashpur bypolls,
the party instantly came into action and picked two names for vacant seat of
corporator in BJP stronghold region. According to information, the two
candidates have filed nomination papers on Friday.
The
state leadership has assigned the task of finalising party’s official candidate
to deputy CLP leader Rampukar Singh. The corporator’s seat in Jashpur municipal
council fell vacant following death of Bilaspur MP Dilip Singh Judeo’s son
Shatrunjay. This time, the BJP has put Judeo’s younger son Prabal Pratap in
fray. Prabal Pratap was working in USA. After his brother’s death he
returned home and announced to enter in politics. Presently, all the seats of
Jashpur municipal council belong to BJP.
According
to information, Jogi wants to field strong candidate for the vacant corporator
seat. Hence, when Congress delayed in announcing its candidate’s name, he wrote
a letter to Patel. He categorically said that either the party promptly
announce the name of the candidate or allow him to do the job.
Shocked
by Jogi’s letter, when Patel inquired about delay in candidate finalisation
from DCC Jashpur president Arti Singh (daughter of deputy CLP leader Rampukar
Singh), she told that she had given information about vacant seat to party
general secretary and Raigarh Lok Sabha incharge Bhupesh Baghel much earlier
and delay was from his side.
It
is learnt that Baghel ignored Arti Singh’s information as he was busy in
attacking chief minister Raman Singh on Pushp Steel case by writing letters
CBI, Election Commission of India and chief secretary of state.
Comprehending
the situation, Patel instantly talked to Rampukar Singh and asked him to pick
two candidates to file nomination papers. Eventually, Kiran Singh and Urmila
Bhagat filed nominations from Congress in presence of Arti Singh and other
party leaders from Raigarh and Jashpur. The party will announce that candidate
as official whose nomination papers would be found correct by the returning
officer.
