Govt’s anti-tribal face exposed in Soni Sodhi case: Jogi

Raipur, May 07, 2013

Hailing decision of Dantewada’s Additional Sessions Judge to exonerate Soni Sodhi from charges of having naxal link, senior Congress leader Ajit Jogi said the decision had rather exposed state government’s anti-tribal face.

“The government had put Sodhi in jail on the basis of false charges and is responsible for mental and sexual harassment she faced in the prison,” Jogi said.

He alleged that the BJP government had victimised several innocent tribals by killing them in fake naxal encounters.

“The government makes empty talks of tribal security and development as it is never serious on these issues. Tribal girls are being sexually exploited in ashram hostels as well as in salva judum camps. The government does not hesitate in lathicharging tribals. Over 50000 girls are missing from the state. Certainly, the government is responsible for miseries of tribals,” he said.

“Now since Sodhi has got justice, the government should clarify its stance and tender apology to tribal community,” he said.

CM frustrated

On recent remarks of chief minister, Jogi said the former was frustrated by continuous attacks of Congress on him. “Since allegations levelled against him are true the CM is unable to do anything except using acerbic tone against Congress,” Jogi said. “The ruling party is misleading people for past nine and a half years and has now been exposed. The people too are waiting from assembly polls to get rid of the incumbent government,” he added.
