Congress on Thursday claimed that house quota under Indira Awas Yojna
(IAY) was increased by Centre on initiatives of state Congress chief Nandkumar
Patel. Now, state will get 6500 more IAY houses.
“It
was Patel’s efforts that the Centre has increased IAY house quota for 2013-14
from 41511 to 48004. The Centre has approved 52000 houses and Rs 521.84 crore
under IAY for Chhattisgarh forest regions,” informed chief Congress
spokesperson Shailesh Nitin Trivedi.
“Besides,
the UPA government has also increased the grant fund slab for poor under IAY to
Rs 75000,” he said.
“The
Centre decided to increase IAY quota for Chhattisgarh after Patel requested
union rural development minister Jairam Ramesh consider factors like scarce
houses for poor, the poverty ratio and population of scheduled caste, scheduled
tribe and minorities while fixing target for state,” he said.
“In
future too, the Centre will use these parameters to approve IAY house quota for
Chhattisgarh,” he added.
